Welcome Back to 'Will It Casserole?'
Hello everyone, and welcome back to Will It Casserole?, the column where we see what meals, dishes, and cuisines can be re-imagined and transformed into casseroles (or hot dishes, depending on where youâre from). It has been a whileânearly two yearsâsince I took a reader-sourced concept and turned it into a casserole, and I miss being bossed around.
The last casserole I made was this tater tot-topped shepherdâs pie, and it was good, but I need a challenge, an esoteric concept, a foodie fever dream to transform into a multi-tiered hot dish. Something like Garthâs Breakfast Bowl, a cheese plate, or an entire cookout.
Hereâs where you come in. If youâve been hanging around Skillet for a few years, you might remember the reader-sourced aspect of this column. Itâs pretty simple: I suggest a few casserole ideas, and yâall comment below with your own, or add notes and make suggestions for mine. I then read the comments, pick my favorite, make it a casserole, and share the recipe.

As always, I have a few notions to get you started, most of which I thought of long ago, but never brought to fruition:
Grilled cheese & tomato soup casserole: There are a couple of different ways we could construct this, but I imagining lots of crusty bread, lots of different cheeses, and a tomato soup reduction.
French onion soup casserole: Similar to the above, but with an insane amount of caramelized onions, and a beef base instead of tomato (obviously).
Trader Joeâs casserole: Iâd like to see what kind of casserole I could build using only Trader Joeâs productsâbonus if they all come from the frozen section.
Taco Bell casserole: All Taco Bell items are basically a rearrangement of the same five ingredients, so I see no reason why a casserole wouldnât work. We could build it out of actual Taco Bell items, homemade dupes, or a mix of the two.
You get the idea. Please drop your own casserole ideas below, and like your favorites. I canât guarantee I will make the one with the most likes, but itâs a reasonably safe bet.
