Pickleball—a blend of tennis, badminton, and table tennis—has taken the world by storm, but no one has embraced the trend quite like Floridians, especially those seeking community and an active lifestyle in retirement. So, when we set out to find the best pickleball shoes, we knew there were no better experts to test them than a team of 17 pickleball players—who just so happen to be my neighbors in Florida. While some claim to be beginners, they can absolutely run circles around you on the court (I know this firsthand). These intermediate to advanced players hit the court with their pickleball paddles multiple times a week, for two to three hours at a time under the hot Florida sun.
To identify the top pickleball shoes on the market, we had our 17 Floridian players each test a different pair for over a month, evaluating fit, flexibility, durability, comfort, support, and value. This allowed us to determine which shoes work best for every foot type and playing style—and which ones you should avoid altogether. We also consulted three pickleball experts to pinpoint the key features to look for in a quality pair of shoes.
