Who They’re For

Best for people seeking comfortable, figure-hugging leggings for cross-training and moderate-intensity workouts.

Why We Love Them

Gymshark’s Vital Seamless 2.0 Leggings landed our top spot for their ideal blend of stretch, compression, and style. We loved their flattering, figure-flattering design, available in many versatile shades. During barre and sculpt classes, running errands, and leg exercises at the gym, we felt equally supported and comfortable, with no shifting, bunching, pinching, or sagging in sight, even while squatting and lunging.

These leggings are so moisture-wicking that we didn’t sweat through them during intense gym sessions. Their opaque fabric effortlessly passed the squat test and allowed us to move freely without feeling exposed or limited. We had no trouble with thinning or ripping, and they remained nicely snug after several wears and machine washes.

Potential Flaws

  • While we thought their ultra-high-waisted fit was flattering, we had to adjust it occasionally while sitting down. This may be avoided by sizing up.

Most Valuable Insight

“I felt supported and comfortable wearing these leggings, and the waistband did not slide down or move below my belly button between movements. With every workout, the leggings and their band stayed in place. At times, I even forgot I was still testing while wearing them in the office. I feel held in and secure in these leggings.” —Chantia M., Verywell Fit product tester

Why We Love Them

Gymshark’s Adapt Camo Seamless Leggings helped us tackle high-impact workouts without worrying about slippage or thinning. While wearing them during Peloton rides, strength training, treadmill running, and cardio workouts, we liked that their slightly thicker, supportive material kept our muscles warm. This makes them ideal for outdoor winter or gym workouts, especially if they tend to blast the air conditioning.

Ideal for wearing as a base or outer layer for winter runs, bike rides, and hikes, their thick, compressive material is completely opaque, even in the lighter color options. While wearing them in the gym, on the elliptical, and in barre classes, their ribbed waistband offered excellent support without being overly tight.

These leggings come in various colors, including vibrant shades, jewel tones, and neutrals, to complement any wardrobe. Their contoured look was a major plus, and they didn’t show any sweat marks, even during our most intense workouts. Eyelet detailing on the backs of the legs provides some breathability for sweatier workouts, which we love.

Potential Flaws

  • These leggings are much thicker than others we tested, making them a bit too warm for hot weather. We recommend these for those who run cold or for wearing in chillier environments.

Most Valuable Insight

“The fabric is thick, shiny, and sleek. When I do lower-intensity workouts in them on the elliptical and a few other machines, the thicker, knit waistband does a great job hiding any sweat that probably would have shown up with other fabrics.” —Elise W., Verywell Fit product tester

Rise: High-waisted Length: 30.5 inches Fabric: Nylon, elastane Sizes: XS-XXL Compression Level: High Care: Machine wash cold, air dry Our Overall Rating: 4.1/5

Who They’re For

Best for runners, personal trainers, and avid exercisers who want compressive leggings that shape their legs.

Why We Love Them

With reliably opaque fabric and flattering compression, Gymshark’s Flex High Waisted Leggings are ideal for devoted runners and fitness enthusiasts. Portions of the fabric are strategically shaded to create a shaping effect (primarily around the glutes). We found that this, along with the supportive compression, was ideal for high-impact workouts like weightlifting and running. But we still found them comfortable for barre classes and walking around.

These stylish leggings held up well to several washes and wear without changing size, shape, or performance. The thick, sturdy fabric kept our muscles warm, making them a good choice for outdoor workouts in chilly weather. We like that the seamless waistband is flattering and comfortable, with the brand’s name spelled out in eye-catching font on the back.

Potential Flaws

  • These leggings felt tighter and less stretchy than others we tested. For a less compressive fit, we suggest sizing up.

Most Valuable Insight

“They feel very sturdily constructed! I like that they say the brand's name on the back of the waistband, and the touches of different material under the butt are stylish and shaping.” —Phoebe S., Verywell Fit product tester

Gymshark Leggings We Also Tested

We tested 12 Gymshark leggings, but only seven ticked enough boxes to be included in our top picks. While this pair offered some notable benefits, it didn’t impress us enough to make the final list of recommendations.

  • Gymshark’s Sport Running Leggings were opaque and sweat-wicking, with no pilling after weekly runs and interval training. However, they were uncomfortably tight, lacked compression for running, and stretched out over time.

What to Look for When Shopping for Gymshark Leggings

  • Material: Most Gymshark leggings are constructed of nylon and elastane (some pairs also contain polyester). These performance fabric blends are stretchy and compressive, with varying degrees of softness. While shopping for your perfect pair, consider how thick you want the material to be—thicker fabrics provide more warmth for your muscles, while thinner fabrics are more breathable.
  • Length: Gymshark leggings have a 30.5-inch inseam, which hits above the ankle for our taller testers and at or below the ankle for our shorter testers. They were a bit too long for some of our petite testers, who measured around 5 feet 2 inches, but they worked well for most other heights.
  • Rise: All the Gymshark leggings we tested have a high-rise waistband for coverage and support. For average heights and below, this sits just above the belly button; for our taller testers, it sits at or below the belly button. Generally, Gymshark leggings are a good choice for exercisers who want plenty of length and midsection coverage.
  • Activity Level: Consider which workouts and activities you’ll do in your leggings. Some offer warmth and compression for outdoor workouts, like running, while others are lighter and more breathable for low-impact exercises, like yoga. Some Gymshark leggings we tested are best for everyday wear, like lounging and running errands.

How We Tested the Gymshark Leggings

To find the best Gymshark leggings for a range of workouts, we selected 12 different styles to wear-test. We tested them by performing various low- to high-intensity workouts and during everyday wear. When testing Gymshark leggings, we evaluate each pair based on the following key criteria.

  • Quality: Leggings should be practical for your day-to-day, which means easy maintenance. We consider how well they hold up to machine washing: Do they shrink, discolor, warp, or pill? Do seams and threads start to unravel, or do holes gradually develop? Do they wick away sweat? Do they hold onto odor?
  • Fit: During intensive exercise and casual wear, we consider whether the leggings pinch, roll, shift, or move around with movement. Do we have to yank them up repeatedly, or do they stay put, even during our most rigorous workouts? According to Alpert, a snug, comfortable fit that allows you to evaluate your form is a key feature for leggings—especially for activities like yoga and Pilates.
  • Opacity: We evaluate leggings’ opacity at rest and in deep squats. We check for sheer sections, prioritizing pairs that provide dependable coverage in every position, even after plenty of washes and wear.
  • Performance: We consider how they look and feel during various activities, from walking and running to attending workout classes and meeting friends for coffee. To suit a variety of exercises, we look for comfortable compression and full-leg coverage without extra fabric to get in the way of your workout. We prioritize leggings that transition effortlessly from intense workouts to casual wear.
  • Value: To assess value, we wait to check the price after each pair has been evaluated in all other key categories. Would we purchase the leggings at full price? Would we recommend them to loved ones? We prioritize leggings whose quality exceeds their value.
